Post-Conditioning

Postconditioning or Chronic Remote Ischemic Conditioning, (CRIC) is a new treatment protocol in which the remote conditioning stimulus is repeated daily for several weeks after a precipitating ischemic event (e.g. heart attack or stroke). The same metabolic processes that protect against acute heart or organ damage are activated to modify pathological disease processes that can lead to chronic conditions, such as heart failure.
